EXPERIENCE

C.H. Dudley, M.D.

He is one of only a few board-certified forensic psychiatrists in Michigan providing Independent Medical Evaluations (IME). This service is specifically designed to determine if people are mentally disabled from a physical accident or emotional incident - and/or if they are fit to return to work. These services are an invaluable tool to help resolve workman's compensation issues, insurance claims and lawsuits.

A board-certified forensic and general psychiatrist, his reputation is based on 15 years of solid experience, much of it in providing IMEs. His services are in high demand as only 3% of all psychiatrists in the country are board-certified Forensic Psychiatrists. Dr. Dudley is also a Diplomate, American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology. In all, he is a member of 13 professional societies including the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law; American Psychiatric Association; Black Psychiatrists of America and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Medicine. He is also a past board member of the Michigan Attorney Disciplinary Board.

Dr. Dudley studied honors psychology at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Wayne State University. He received a doctorate in medicine from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, completing his internship at Henry Ford Hospital. His psychiatric residency was performed at Sinai Hospital.

In addition to providing Individual Medical Evaluations, Dr. Dudley's practice also provides training to both corporations and law firms. This training has proven invaluable to his clients. While it can be customized to meet a specific need, training for corporations, insurance companies and educational institutions typically addresses issues like violence in the workforce and sexual harassment.

"I dedicate a lot of time to serving as a seminar leader and in providing in-service training for the legal and insurance industries. It is one of the aspects of my career I enjoy most," he states.

Law firm training often will focus on frequently contentious issues including post-traumatic stress, an often misunderstood term according to Dr. Dudley. Other subtle but vaguely understood issues include adult adjustment disorders, in which patients usually recover in a reasonable timeframe on their own. Other issues include abnormal grief reactions, neurological disorders and chronic pain resulting in emotional distress.

Additional services of interest to law firms and insurance companies include court ordered assessments and record reviews of patient, hospital or doctor records to uncover evidence to support or refute psychological disability of the patient.
